Caring for your bees in mini-pods is a vital part of successful bee venom therapy. Whether you’re new to apitherapy or a seasoned practitioner, keeping your bees healthy, hydrated, and comfortable ensures both safety and effectiveness.

Here’s your go-to guide for keeping your therapy bees in top condition:

1. Hydration: Keeping Bees Watered

When your bees arrive, hydration should be your first priority. Gently dip a clean fingertip in water and place a single drop near the pod. This small amount is enough to keep them hydrated without overwhelming them.

If you’re using the Dream Pod, use the included misting bottle to lightly spray the pod away from the bees, never directly on them. Spraying bees can cause chilling or drowning. Mist once daily to maintain proper humidity inside the pod.

2. Feeding: Monitoring and Supplementing Nutrition

Mini-pods come pre-stocked with enough food to last up to a week. However, if the food begins to run low:

  • Add a tiny droplet of honey, sugar water, or bee candy.

  • Avoid overfeeding—too much honey can make the bees sticky and cause suffocation.

  • Replace any dried or soiled food if needed.

Moderation is key. Always err on the side of a small amount.

3. Environment: The Right Temperature and Light

Bees in therapy pods thrive in a dark, quiet, and warm space:

  • Temperature: Maintain between 75°F–85°F (24°C–29°C).

  • Avoid drafts, direct sunlight, and temperature swings.

  • If your home is on the cooler side, a small reptile heater can help maintain optimal warmth.

When not in use, cover the pod or store it in a dark space to encourage rest. Bees require darkness to remain calm and conserve energy.

4. Safety and Protection: Avoid Common Risks

Your bees are delicate. Here’s how to protect them:

  • No Direct Sunlight: Overheating leads to dehydration and stress.

  • Avoid Freezing/Overheating: Sudden temperature changes can be fatal.

  • Prevent Dehydration: Mist daily, but don’t overdo it.

  • Monitor Food: Prevent starvation but don’t overfeed.

  • Ensure Airflow: If a bee dies, check the food area isn’t blocked.

  • Keep Away from Chemicals: Avoid pesticides, cleaning products, or perfumes near the bees.

  • Pet & Child Safety: Keep pods out of reach of pets and children.
